I think that War is doable. USA can take EU to the mat... or they can take on the Asian countries. I doubt they can take on all of them simultaneously. There's a W-CDMA Fifht Column in Nort America. Nortel and GSM Alliance are starting W-CDMA trials in Canada. Meanwhile, Qualcomm has no leverage in Europe and very little in Asia. They could have tried to get the Koreans onboard, but the chaebols are neck deep in W-CDMA development, trying to keep up with the Japanese companies working on W-CDMA.

From purely strategic POW, W-CDMA has all the support of Europe, strong support from China and Japan, reserved support from Korea and some North American entities. cdma2000 looks mighty lonely against this backdrop.
