Jump to first matched term
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 18, 1998-- TeleServices International Group, Inc. (OTC BB:TSIG), announced today a unique fund-raising and e-commerce partnership with The Babe Ruth League, Inc. TeleServices' Compact Connection subsidiary will provide the League with the Babe Ruth MusicCard to sell for fundraising purposes.
The program will enable more than 900,000 youth baseball and softball players to sell the $10 MusicCards, which enable the cardholders to purchase compact disks through the Compact Connection e-commerce Internet site at below market prices. TeleServices and the League will share in the revenues generated by the sale of the Cards. The goal of the program is to sell at least $50,000,000 of Babe Ruth MusicCards and CDs.
Compact Connection, Inc. (CCI), an online music retailer, is a subsidiary of TeleServices, a fully integrated provider of outsourced teleservices. Compact Connection sells CDs and cassettes online via its website (http://www.compactconnection.com) at discount prices competitive with other leading online music retailers such as MusicBoulevard (Nasdaq:NTKI), CDNow (Nasdaq:CDNW), K-Tel (Nasdaq:KTEL), and amazon.com (Nasdaq:AMZN). Unique to the Internet is Compact Connection's marketing of its MusicCard(TM), which provides purchasers the ability to buy CDs at even greater discounted prices.
The Babe Ruth League is the premier amateur baseball and softball program in the world, with more than 6,000 Leagues, 43,000 teams and 900,000 participants ranging in ages from 5 to 18. Annually each league and its respective teams require funding for equipment, personnel, travel, and uniforms. Compact Connection is proud to have been designated exclusively as the League's CD fund-raising program for 1999.
Joseph M. Smiegocki, Vice President/Marketing of the Babe Ruth League stated, "We anticipate great things from this relationship with Compact Connection. This is a fresh approach for us, and we are very excited about the fund-raising potential of the Babe Ruth MusicCard."
Added Robert Gordon, Chairman of TeleServices, "We are proud to be designated an 'Official Fund Raising Program' of the Babe Ruth League. This great organization is one of the premier programs in the country for the development of our nation's young people. This partnership will help them raise the funds they need and represents an important new market for the Compact Connection MusicCard."
