I read the article in the WSJ yesterday. I don't think it is anything new and quite frankly I think it's incomplete. This is the same thing the bears have been saying for months. Too much supply, lower occupancy rates, lower pricing, etc. Well, hotel stocks have been the worst performing sector in the market. Things are not as bad as they were painting a few months ago. There will be no recession and interest rates are so low even overleraged hotel cos. like Patriot or Starwood are not going bankrupt. MMH & MHX don't have balance sheet issues and my sense is their business will do just fine. I think there is a huge disconnect between the general market and the hotel sector. If the overall stock market is telling us that the economy is booming how can some Price Waterhouse research report say there is such problems with occupancy. Somebody is very wrong.
