Shipments are still significantly larger than bookings.
Totals in both categories are still ~40% below 1997 numbers, meaning well below the amount needed to sustain the earnings, R&D expenditures, engineering staffs, and so on seen in 1997.

If the BtB is below 1, the industry is shrinking. A year ago, a BtB of 0.84 would have been met with weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth. It only looks good now because recent months were so bad.

Yes, I think we've turned the corner, and I've been saying so for several months. (I don't remember if I called the bottom precisely, but I think I came pretty close.) But the dawn isn't breaking over the horizon yet.
