Nancy....... how's life working for Elan? Yup, the important issue here is to find something that stops dementia. The toll on caregivers is overwhelming, apart from the patient issues. Memantine is available from buyers clubs, I believe. Therefore, if I were a patient, I probably would not enter the trial. Given the years of experience with memantine in Europe, you'd think that FDA and NTII might be working on expanded access. Thanks for the injection of rationale. You'd think that the protocol has a means to catch "cheaters", but let's hope that the patients have access to sufficient information that they are at least tempted to cheat. I honestly believe that, if a biotech investor prays as much for patients as for share appreciation, their long-term portfolio will be a thing of beauty. Patients first! Chase out the scams. Rick
