I don't have a problem with profanity or scatological language--although some people do tend to go overboard. It seems to be similar to other human behavior, what may be appropriate on one thread with one group of people is clearly not appropriate on another with a different group.

In fact, some of the most appalling invective I have seen on SI would pass a censor's screen of profanity, etc. But it can be disgusting to read.
