No, Ellen was dropped because after the "coming out" scene the ratings immediately tanked. Few shows have ever had a #1 Nielsen rating and fallen to the depths in the ratings as quickly as that show had. Most likely because people thought they were going to get a comedy and instead received a propaganda spot for homosexuality.
