some thoughts on the 17 Dec. mtg. The meeting has been discussed
on th RB thread, here is another view. The meeting room had about
a half dozen very unhappy stockholders whose questions mostly seemed
more anger venting than information seeking. Mr. Egan was placed very
much on the defensive and it was diffacult to hear much except the
dialogue that the questioners produced. From this dialogue it seems
that EGNS has been run too much as a mom and pop company and needs to
advance to a proffesionally managed company with vastly improved
investor/public relations. Ed Egan must stop mother henning all
company decisions. All agreed.
The China y2k JV was discussed. How a company as small as EGNS
could do meaningful work in China was asked and answered. They
have just submitted a proposal for y2k that would result in about
10 megabucks if accepted. If this one gets away the next one or the
one after that will almost certainly fly. The JV does not have
that much competition in China. The JV is very well connected
in China which is requirement number one. They are training a resident
(Honkong) rep. who is multilingual. They are on track (imho-but
I heard no other opions from the assembled lynch crew)
The possibility of EGNS being a takeover candidate was mentioned.
I gathered that it is very possible.
The market today seems to have reacted negatively to news of the
meeting. After tax loss selling and the present distemper, I look
for a huge China contract announcement probably followed by another.
When the stock goes up the next meeting will be full of EGNS fans.
Just my humble opinion.
