True, Phillips didn't have much success in Denver, but seems to have tightened up his act in Buffalo. His second year in Denver was particularly nasty...they went 0-5 to start the season, and I watched them struggle to their first win of the year at Husky Stadium in Seattle. (The Kingdome was under repairs for a few months, after the infamous falling ceiling tiles, but that's another story). Anyhow, what I remember hearing time and time again was that most players really liked Phillips, but that his approach was almost TOO player-centered. (No discipline, etc.) It's also worth noting that Phillips was responsible for bringing in Jim Fassell to get Elway's career kicked-in to a new level, after the somewhat contstraining Reeves era.
