LOWELL, MASS. (Jan. 20) BUSINESS WIRE -Jan. 20, 1997--

Eighteen-year veteran of Proteon, Digital, Computervision

will oversee all Acacia financial operations

Acacia Networks has named 18-year high technology finance veteran Joseph A. DiGiantommaso as its first vice president of finance, President Michael Gagnon announced today.

DiGiantommaso comes to Acacia after eight years at Proteon Inc., where he most recently served as vice president of finance and administration and chief financial officer. In those capacities he directed Proteon's efforts to restructure its core business operations while reducing infrastructure costs.

At Acacia, the leading developer of third generation, fast-adaptive switching technology, DiGiantommaso is responsible for all financial operations. These include cash mangement, financial planning, investor/analyst relations, asset control, financial reporting, and treasury and legal matters. He will report directly to Gagnon.

"Joe will expand our business infrastructure so we can manage the growth we expect as we work toward our goal of becoming a $200 million company in the next few years," Gagnon said. "He has the experience to anticipate which business procedures need to be implemented and when, so Acacia can meet its commitments to vendors, customers and shareholders." Experiences range from small to large companies

DiGiantommaso joined Proteon during its high-growth phase in 1988, starting as manufacturing controller and advancing steadily to vice president of finance and administration. Prior to Proteon, he served in budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and planning positions for several multi-national high technology corporations.

From 1986 to 1988, DiGiantommaso served as senior financial analyst and financial planning manager for Computervision Corporation. Before that he was manager of budgets and financial analysis for Dennison Computer Supplies, a division of Dennison Manufacturing, from 1984 to 1986.

As a financial analyst and financial consultant for Digital Equipment Corporation's Far East Manufacturing Group from 1980 to 1984, DiGiantommaso worked in product costing, long-range planning, new product introduction cycles, inventory and logistics across international lines in order to transition U.S. prototype production into high-volume production in the Far East. He started his career in 1978 as an analyst for Raytheon Company's Air Traffic Control Group.

DiGiantommaso holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration from St. Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and a master's degree in business administration from Northeastern University's School of Management. He lives in Walpole, Mass., with his wife and their three children. About Acacia Networks
