First of all, it is the Democrats who insisted on the extension of the Special Counsel provisions. The Republicans wanted to get rid of them, once and for all. Since the Special Counsel exists at the Democrats pleasure, are you saying that the position can only investigate Republicans? If that is your point, maybe you should have let Janet Reno know about it. She has authorized Starr's investigation at all points, and could, at any time, terminate his investigation. Starr's compelling evidence was presented to Congress, and Clinton was not able to refute it. He had every opportunity to do so.
