OT -- Ed, As a Canadian, I am amazed at what goes on in Washington. I think Canada and other western countries are shocked by this nonsense. We know the whole story about how the investigation turned into to getting Clinton any way possible.

However, there is a positive side to this story. First, it is not going to affect the markets. More importantly, this kind of turmoil will lead to better times ahead. Partisan politics will be exposed first in the House and then in the Senate. In the future, the public will not stand for it. They may want to boot out a lot of the extremists in the next election, Democrats or Republicans (my guess would be that the Democrats will do better in the next election). The calm always comes after the storm. In the end, I think the US will be better for it.

My belief is that forcing certain kinds of morality (re: sexual affairs) will not work. Instead, understanding human beings and forgiving them is a better way to go. This may eventually lead to true morality.

By the way, my guess is that nothing is going to happen to Clinton. I still think he has been the most intelligent president in the last two decades. However, like most people, he has weaknesses and selfish motives.
