I think there could be validity to that. I think Ericy is starting to realize they have backed themselves into a corner! Ericy is getting killed in handsets by Nokia, is getting killed in infustructure by LU,Nortel,Mot and now they are loosing this 3G debate. I think Ericy is in much worse shape then MOT was last year. Have you seen the Ericy handsets? They are like police baton's. They have wasted their energy on all Glitz and no substance. They are a great marketing and PR company in a rapidly evolving high tech business. Unlike Nokia a very american-like Tech company Ericy has the European disease. They are unable to compete in real OPEN markets. They have been purtected and nurtured for many years. If you look at european conglomerates like Peugout, Renault, phillips, Siemens, ericy, Alcatel they just dont match up with their American or japenese competitors. They survive through Government aid. Heck there would be no Airbus if it wasnt for purtectionism. The European caremakers like FIAT, SEAT, Renault etc would have been decimated by Japs if not for Non- tarrif and tarrif barriers.
Only now companies like BMW, VW,AUDI, NOKIA have learned how to really compete. They are the exception! |
