Sprint may become our ADSL Santa. I don't know what it directly means for Westell, but when ADSL becomes hot, we know Westell is nearby and sparks may ignite it too.

Sprint To Launch ION Network In January (12/07/98, 3:04 p.m. ET) By Mo Krochmal, TechWeb
Sprint said Monday it will roll out its Integrated On-Demand Network (ION) services in January to big businesses, but consumers and small businesses will have to wait until 2000.
The ION strategy is being implemented in partnership with Cisco and Bellcore to provide "virtually unlimited bandwidth" over single telephone lines. Sprint's service, and others like it, will let customers receive bigger slices of data, voice, and video over existing copper lines, tying those services into one system that is based on an IP architecture. .... ****** The local loop, the last mile to the actual home or small business, has been the biggest hurdle to the deployment of broadband for consumers.
"We have been working diligently on the local-loop issues since a big component of Sprint ION is taking the network and deploying it to the customer premises," said Anderson.
Sprint has been deploying its own DSL equipment in central offices. "We are using a combination of building it out ourselves and leveraging the existing plant to deploy high-speed access to small businesses, branch offices of large businesses, and consumers," Anderson said.
