melinda, TP and Dipy, Thanks for the list of republicans who are voting against impeachment. I agree I dont know what will happen to them. Yesterday evening I went to a meeting on how to defeat Tom Campbell in 2000. This is going to be tough because hes pretty solidly entrenched. This is what I found out in the meeting (with no verification - just what people said who have recently returned from DC) - For any republicans considering voting against impeachment, the house leadership is meeting with them and showing them something Starr has against Clinton that didnt appear in Starr report. These details are damaging to Clinton and this has somehow caused some defections from the anti-impeachment crowd. - Campbell was one of these who went through this exercise and changed his somewhat undecided vote to impeachment, and his vote apparently caused others to swing towards impeachment because Campbell is a law professor at Stanford. - Campbells PR and the republicans have leaked to the press that the White House is "out to get Campbell" - I REALLY resent this - the WH is not out to get Campbell but the voters are and if he knew anything about any members of his constituency that dont have 100 million $$ he would know that. This stuff with the "secret Starr material" and the leaks that the WH is out to get this guy is not acceptable to me at all. There have been a number of petitions circulating to remove him in 2000 with a serious challenger (one of which was signed by Marc Andreesen) so I would encourage you local guys to join this effort because Campbell is a hard one to go up against - we probably cant topple him but at least make him sweat a little and expose these lies for what they are.
