Garry,
Since I value your opinion, I will respond with my perspective on this subject.
First, I don't even know that Topcat is married and that all this moralizing is not just more rhetoric. In the event that he is married, and that my comments have caused any anguish to his family member, then I do apologize to that family member.
Second, how about looking at things from a different point of view? How about when TC sent a message to Pugs that he had driven by the gymn? How might Pugs' wife have felt when she saw that? (And I do know that Pugs is married). Maybe she was working the counter that day. Maybe she had to concern herself that "someone" might be dropping in at any time. Maybe she has to wonder if she is being followed home. Maybe she has to wonder if someone is also cruising the neighborhood.
Having been threatened myself on another thread, I know the difference between being concerned about real physical danger and being offended by unseemly comments. I think that TC's message to Pugs was far more ominous than what we are discussing here. JMO, of course, because it seems that, as usual, the nays get the benefit of the doubt.
Two wrongs don't make a right. So, in that regard, I was wrong and once again I apologize to "Mrs. TC". However, I do not feel compelled to apologize to TC, even out of repect to you, as he brings these things on himself. It is he who sent the ominous message. It is he who, in his omnitience, decides who brings anything of value to the thread.
As far as RMIL, I think it's really a matter of size of investment relative to net worth which would dictate who has the greater "loss". I'm sure that we both can afford the losses which we may take, as can many of the other investors, although some of them have been severely hurt financially. However, it's not about money with me.
For me, it's a matter of who wins. It's not that I think that I (we) have much chance of winning. It's that I really would hate to see certain unscrupulous(maybe criminal) individuals (and not necessarily anyone who posts here) turn out to be the winners. For, if that happens, it only insures future losses for me (us), as the more they win, the more powerful they become and the weaker we become.
I really don't wish to debate with you, Garry. Actually, I took time out of a busy schedule of Saturday chores to stop and write this, but I hoped to catch you before you left.
Have a good trip.
BTW, your "attempts" at humor are sorely missed.
Very best regards,
