What stocks are you recommending in Semiconductor companies? (questioned by briefing.com, scheduled to be published 12/21/98) "Ken Pearlman (Executive director of CIBC Oppenheimer Fund): As you may sense, I am more than a little concerned about current valuations in my group. However, the programmable logic segment has typically grown in excess of the chip industry in general because PLDs are replacing custom or ASIC logic chips, so they are not so much limited by market growth but by penetration. I believe there is upside to expectations for PLD companies such as Altera (ALTR), Xilinx (XLNX), Lattice (LSCC) and Actel (ACTL) in the next several quarters."
