Network Thriving after delicate operation.

In the early morning hours of November 15, a team of 300 people stationed at various points across Canada carried out a complex upgrade of our entire core broadband network. The operation upgraded 81 switches - involving some 14,000 circuits - and changed or "swapped" 900 line cards.

Some 140 employees of Bell Canada worked closely with staff from Newbridge, Stentor Canadian Network Management and our partners in the Regional Advanced Communication Companies to ensure this risky operation was carried out without affecting customers of our Broadband Network Solutions (BNS) services.

The ATM switches that Bell uses to deliver our broadband services are indeed like the "brains" of the network, managing the transport of data at extremely high speeds.
