Shane:

I can understand both the frustration and the reasons. Your office is asking a lot of those boxes/network with that much going on. (g)

I still get a kick out of the ability of the word recognition software to actually do what it does. When one actually examines what the software is doing, it borders on the incredible in my opinion. That said, it still requires a less-than-natural speaking style and it still generates beaucoup errors. I still think it will be a real product within a year or two. Time will tell what the market for this technology looks like. I'm cheering for it.

I'm in the school that doesn't see much future for net-based computers. Potent, do-everything PCs are now extremely cheap, and we N. Americans "want it all". (g) I personally get a bit frustrated with slow access times on the net, but I'm too cheap to acquire a coax-based modem or a condtioned line. I find that the time I spend reading the stuff I access is a huge fraction of the total time spent on the net. That's the rational side of me speaking because at the moment, the system is delivering well. It doesn't account for the emotional response to slow access which has caused dents to appear in the top of my PC where I've been pounding it with my fists. (g)

Best, Earlie
