I have to ask you a question merely as a point of interest because I am quite ignorant about this kind of thing.

I am watching The Olympiad (Olympia) by Leni Riefenstahl which is a beautifully shot documentary made during the 1936 Olympics. It won many awards but later was dubbed a fascist film. The version I am watching seems to be the original since the shots of Hitler have not been edited out as in some versions.

It has a British narrator and invariably when they bring up the Americans, such as Jesse Owens - he says "The American Negroid". It is rarely just "The American".

I wonder what Hitler thought as Jesse Owens was beating his "supreme race of Aryans". Btw, Iranians are suppose to be direct descendants of the original Aryans.

I was thinking about your post as I was watching this documentary. My question relates to how did people feel about great athletes like Jesse Owens or other great black athletes during this pervasive racism that you grew up with?

P.S.
I wonder if OJ is glad that he will no longer be thought of as part of the Trial of the Century ;-)
