>>Any takers on what the "real story" will be in 50 years?<<

Sure; in fifty years Clinton will be remembered as one of our best Presidents, and the impeachment hearings will be listed right next to McCarthyism as one of the black spots on our history.

The Republicans are accomplishing two things and two things only with this vendetta. One, they are ensuring that the number of people who'll vote a straight Democratic ticket in all future elections will dramatically rise, if not double. And two, they are forever ruining their reputation as a political party.

I personally will never again have any respect for someone who allies himself with the Republican party. Any man worth his salt would break his allegiance and go independent. The Republicans have shown their true colors, and the history books will record those colors. And they're not pretty.

>>Just a theory of mine; Question: Why do people go to bull fights? Because sometimes the bull wins!!!I believe that people have fixed on the wounded and bleeding president with the assurance that this "bull" does not want to go without taking a few more "fighters" with him."<<

I have a different theory about bull fights, not nearly so positive as yours (though I like your take on it). Many people, I believe, go to bull fights because they get a thrill out of seeing death and destruction. These are the same people who slow down to gape at car accidents; the same people who used to relish public hangings. Most of the citizens screaming for Clinton's impeachment don't know a thing beyond what the headlines of the local paper tell them. But the idea of seeing a powerful, intelligent man destroyed exhilirates their small, pathetic minds. The fairness or rightness of it is immaterial to them, and they would never bother to ascertain either.
