Speaking of OCR, how good have those apps become lately?

I have OmniPage Pro. The program has received good ratings for accuracy but has been more expensive than the competition. I am not up on the latest. I do not use it much. I skipped the version 8 upgrade and still have 9.0 on the shelf.

The character recognition in 6.0 was quite good. The program started to struggle with 6 pt text. The ability to recognize text at a slight angle was a good improvement. Just about any 8 pt or higher clear text works quite well. The improvements have been after the recognition..I will call it *inteligent recognition*..for example spell check in combination with character recognition.

I just looked up FAX in the 9.0 manual. OmniPage works with image files..bmp, tif, dcx, pcx. If someone sends a fax to your computer you will have to save the FAX as one of the image files. OmniPage recommends having the FAX sent fine mode.

If the FAX is sent to a FAX machine you will have to scan it.
