Robert,
I try to keep my technical "trading" hat and my fundamental "investing" hat off my head at the same moment, but I can give you a brief opinion after just receiving OMKT's investor packet on Thursday (call 888-OPENMKT for yours, if you're interested in more detail).
I was in the software business for 5 years on the marketing side before setting up my trading desk, so I have a bit of a feel for the business, if not a comprehensive grasp. OMKT is clearly in the right place at the right time, but execution will be the key to beating the IBM services of the world going forward. Their goal is to become the off-the-shelf product of choice for setting up internet shops. Great idea, the market's wide open. However, can they hold onto their 30%+ market share in the next couple of quarters in the face of ravenous competition? Maybe, if they're really good. Perhaps the market is large enough - and their product at such a good price point with such excellent ease-of-use as the buzz suggests - that they'll be able to expand on the lead for awhile. I hope so. I like them fundamentally and, in the near term, technically. Hope this helps. I'd suggest calling for a packet and reading through the 10K's, etc. Good luck. Rob |
