re: pythons and German shepherds

I recall an old movie in the 30's, by Frank Buck, I believe, or it could have been the Johnsons, of a big python killing a leopard (I was surprised) and not succeeding with a crocodile (maybe it was a tiger (I wasn't surprised)). I suspect these may have been fakes or set ups (but I can't imagine Buck sacrificing a valuable leopard (he collected for zoos)).
I believe a leopard is far more powerful than a cougar (mountain lion) and I read in the news that cougars eat German shepherds for breakfast in California. I wonder if the relationship of eating is transitive. P > L > C > GS. Of course, I hate these hypothetical arguments. Can't you work something empirical out?
