Sorry I have caused such dissent.
I am a business writer for a daily newspaper but do not cover stocks.
My degree in business did not cover any of the abbreviations you use here.

I have never traded stocks in the past and have only been doing it since Thanksgiving of this year. Maybe I am stupid to ask these questions, but as a reporter I have learned that there are a lot of people who claim to understand business but only talk in circles. Many people are afraid to say they don't know what something means. I am not and will ask the stupid questions. Because I want to know and also feel there are others that don't know too. In fact, before I ask these questions I looked all over SI to see if they had a guide or listing of this and they do not.

I apologize for being new to this, however, I feel you guys are great sources of advice with the varied backgrounds and experiences.

And before you go hollering that I am doing something wrong, I only write about local privately-held companies. Never about any public company. Again, I am sorry to have wound everyone up with the stupid questions...I just didn't know.

And also, I can use some of my resources through the paper to help dig up information on some of these people like the Dunn & Bradstreet check. I don't think anyone here had done that yet and to me it was a clear first step.
