[Patent Debate]

Now I'm sounding off without researching all the facts, but to my knowledge xDSL technology and specifically ADSL and DMT is widely known and taught in universities all over the world. And certainly patent information and ANSI standards are public knowledge. My point is that any chip manufacturer could create (and did in ADI's case) a "standard" chipset. Kudos to them for being the first, however does that necessarily make their solution the best performing or compatible system on the market? Lab tests so far point to Amati as having the "best" solution, however it is still early in the game and anything can happen.
