TigerPaw, you can call perjury and obstruction of justice a trivial incident if you wish. Maybe you should tell that to the Americans who are serving jail sentences for it.

Nixon was threatened with impeachment for a far lesser offense. For the good of the country he resigned. And he was elected with a huge majority of Americans, much higher levels than Clinton. Remember most Americans never voted for Clinton. Polling of course wasn't such a practiced art form then as it is now, but I would be willing to bet the majority of Americans did not want to see him impeached either.

Unfortunately because we have a hollow leader without the character of Nixon we must endure a long drawn out impeachment process. In the end he will be found guilty of perjury and obstruction of justice. Whether he is indeed impeached is still an open book at this stage.

If he was a Republican and had committed these offenses, I can guarantee you the media elite would be calling for his resignation in mass. In today's pop culture of 6.7 second sound bites the propaganda machine known as the media is playing a larger part in all this than most realize. They are shaping public opinion on a scale not seen for decades.
