re: customers buy stock in supplier

Not the best idea I've ever heard. Auditors should question purchases from companies in which the agent had a disclosed investment with no legal opinion on conflict of interest. An agent who purchased from a company in which he had an undisclosed investment should be discharged by an ethical company. This is a common conflict of interest. The agent at the least must be prepared to prove to the corporate counsel before the purchase that this was the best deal for the corporation. Sorry to take away the punchbowl just when the party is getting started.
