I'm pondering three short picks for 1999 so far -NSOL (now $121, target $40) -TMX (now $48, target $28) -QTRN (now $48, target $20) Sure while amidst a bull market, shorts are more treated as moving trading shorts and static price targets are difficult to estimate. Longs: Depending on interest rate developments, credit spread movements and any positive surprise on consumer credit quality, beaten down specialty financiers and mortgate vendors may get a thrift. Sure, a darn risky play when companies risk the loss of the entire book meanwhile. C.
