LOL! Some excellent Y2K urban legends, ETC.! I was flipping through the book Year 2000 Timebomb lastnight, which I consider to be a pretty balanced look at the problem, and was amazed to see Yourdon discussing automobile embedded chips and the possibility that, at the stroke of 1/1/2000, the fuel mixture might go whacko, sending you careening down the freeway like an out of control carnival ride. I was quite surprised to see that with no back up evidence in Yourdon's book, especially. I have attempted to verify the common automobile embedded chip risk and have not found any evidence, personally.
