07:49 DJS AT&T's Japan Unit Trims Rates On International Internet Services

TOKYO -(Dow Jones)- AT&T Jens, a Japanese unit of AT&T Corp., said
Monday it reduced the rates it charges for its international Internet phone
and fax services by an average of 15% and a maximum 21% for 16 regions.
The company also said it expanded its services to give customers in
Japan access to 224 regions or countries world-wide, up from 130.
The AT&T (T) unit's move comes amid intensifying competition in the
Japanese telecommunications market. Last week DDI Corp. said it plans to cut
its international phone rates in January in order to remain competitive with
Japan Telecom Co. and KDD Corp., which have both recently lowered their
international phone rates.

should be good for Softbank/Onsale relationship since rates were higher than average there. Now more affordable.
