I have not heard of any legal problems in carrying over the impeachment trial to the next congress.

However, I'm sure Clinton's legal staff is researching any possible legal challenges. Only thing I heard is that the Supreme Court would probably not rule on most issues, but rather kick the problems back to the congress - because of the political nature of impeachment itself.
