Frank, I, too, will take some time and digest your last contribution before responding. You are raising the bar, you know, on this thread. Some of us are going to start hesitating in dashing off a shot from the hip concerning an issue on the thread. :) Perhaps everyone's philosophical contributions ought to be prefaced with some header, I'm thinking contributors on the thread might have some ideas on that more clever than mine.

This is a good spot to say how pleased I am to have access to the thoughts of others contributing on this thread. It is just night and day to compare the usefulness and interest of contributions here at SI to any other "investment" thread I have found. Thank you all.

Frank, before I dig into a printout of your last response (and I don't usually print out!) I might mention that your comment about highway rights-of-way for the 4th buildout seems to be shifting the target a bit. I'm still focused on LAST MILE (what my chairman calls FIRST MILE, but I think we all know what either one means: we are talking about the link that terminates at the customer premises. When talk turns to placing cable on highway R-O-W, seems to me we are outside the last mile. I wholeheartedly concur that there is and will be substantial duplicated physical facilities in such circumstances. But the wires into each home in a residential subdivision, that last mile, that's where I have my serious doubts that a parallel build can be accomplished with any prospect of eventual profitability.
