Thread, I had planned to trade my way into riches off the obvious
Y2K panic that will insue as the media runs a 3 ring circus this time
next year. I've mentioned on other threads about how even if everything is ok on 1/1/00, the precautionary measures that average citizens will take due to media doomsday scenarios will cause effects in all markets, independant of the whole technology issue. For instance, a trade I had planned was to short the 1/00 T-Bond future,
and as people withdrew cash the bond market would obviously weaken -
the banks couldn't borrow form the Fed for more than 15 days and the
sales of securities to meet the cash demand form banks and MMFs would
obviously lead to lower bond prices. But just a few weeks back, and
very quietly, the Fed solved the problem - leaving me with substantial doubt as to whether my prediction will pan out:
Some of you may have read it on another thread already, but I am reposting it because I think that the move is such huge news and it isn't being talked about
