An additional thought:
In addition to paying attention to each of my individual signals, I pay attention to the number of signals that I get per my nightly scan. I scan approx 1700 issues for macd divergences, and out of those that scan out, pick the ones that are the ripest. The number of issues that come out in my scan are sometimes indicative of the future direction of the market.
To decribe further, I get 5-50 total (long/short) signals per night. On 10/7, the number was 32, only 1 short. On 10/8, the number was 47, only 2 shorts. On 10/9, the number was 45, only 1 short. For the past few weeks, the number has been 5-15, mostly shorts.
Tonight the number was 31, only 3 long.
