No way Roger, the religious right loves Hyde. Even with his adultery from 30 years ago Hyde is still one of the right's favorite flag carriers, in particular for his unwavering right to life position (you've heard of the Hyde amendment?).

I'm originally from the Chicago are in a district not too far from the one he represents. They love him there and there's no way in the world that he could be successfully challenged in the primary. He may retire after this term but that would have more to do with his age and declining health (he had prostate cancer) than any successful challenge.

I think you're over reacting to this adultery stuff. Clinton got elected twice as a philanderer so people will look around it, heck they're still supporting him. Sure the right's a little harder on that stuff but they'll easily look past a situation like Hyde's. Livingston was just stupid not tell his associates about it before he ran for Speaker, since it's a political hot potato for the next couple of months, and Livingston's philandering was fairly stout from what I hear.
