Hi, John:

I am not Thomas Drake. But I will answer your question on the VIX,
which I deem to be one of the most important indicators that I keep
track of.

VIX is the volatility index of the CBOE's traded options. It tends
to have a relatively low reading (22) as it is now, portending a
market top. During the market bottom in Oct., the VIX had a reading
of over 60.
