i agree with you re: managers down on these specialty chip stocks because there are too many and the competition is too fierce. The price for chips is stagnating due to undercutting. There needs to be very soon a shake-out in the industry: companies need to combine to bring down R&D costs and boost margins and to be able to weather another downturn. I think 1997 will be the year the big get bigger and the small fade away ( a la Tseng & CHPS). You need to have massive economies of scale to compete against the big boys like ROK and LOCK. Look at the disk drive industry now: they are making money hand over fist due to consolidation. Does anyone have any ideas as to possible combinations/takeover situations in this industry??
