You are absolutely right. Some company's give away more in Black-Scholes options value than they earn, but it isn't considered a cost of doing business in the financial statements. However, sophisticated investors see right through the financial statements, because the details are in the 10K and 10Q.
It is possible that a few individual investors might not have time to read those documents thoroughly, though probably anyone who has the time to follow this thread has the time to work through the SEC filings.
