[case for Lucent]

Pat

Bell Labs was part of AT&T until the spin off of Lucent in Sept.
At that time 90% of Bell Labs went with Lucent along with all
of the equiptment business, and the name Bell Labs. The 10%
that did not became AT&T Laboratories.

As for the possibility of LU providing both CAP and DMT solutions,
I would not be surprised. Even after AT&T had bought McCaw in the
early 90's with their TDMA network, they still had the guts to
produce CDMA equiptment in the last few years. I guess to provide
all solutions for any customer.

Now LU has new management. It will be interesting to see if they
continue with the trend, but it may be years before this could happen.
