Some iMac/TDFX info(FYI):
From MacInTouch Today: "Market research firm PC Data reports that the iMac was the top-selling computer in U.S. retail and mail order stores during November, capturing about 10 percent of this market, which makes up 15 to 20 percent of the worldwide computer market, according to PC Data."
"Best Buy's $999.99 price this past week triggered a frenzy of iMac pricing games this weekend, and readers reported iMacs selling in CompUSA and Best Buy stores for less than $1000, after all the adjustments were calculated, with various bundles also dropping in price."
From iMacIntouch Today: "On Dec. 9, we noted the Game Wizard mezzanine card from Micro Conversions Inc., due for the iMac at $199 in January with Voodoo 2 graphics. A reader cited an impressive demo, while Apple reportedly is dropping hints about introducing its own cards for the slot. (Apple so far has disclaimed any support for third-party use of slot, despite customer demand for such missing capabilities as SCSI and video.)"

PS: That $999 of course includes the iMac premium quality monitor. iMac could become a significant but minor factor in computer retail. |
