O.K. Cyberjockeys:
Some of you have intimated to me to lay off these jokers as there were a number of innocent people waiting to get out. Too silent, for too long.
To mix analogies from Pete's trains, could they still all be lined up at the gate? Did they bring water? Somebody should check on them.
I sympathize with innocent people, even the intelligent ones who should have known better, but how naive do you have to be to believe that accepting this 'mushroom treatment' in silence will help you get anything other than more of the same?
And what about the innocents waiting to get in?????
Here is a solution that might help everybody: Since the stock has been halted for most of the month and there is no further indication which Monday or of what year the material change announcement is to be expected, whatwith Christmas coming, let's give them the rest of the year off.
I'm serious. The people lined up at the gate will be able to go home and enjoy the holidays, secure in the knowledge that their investment cannot lose anymore money. The people waiting to get in can look forward to a profitable first quarter, (starting April 1. 1999), which will also give them plenty of opportunity to complete their DD and still have time to buy in without being innocents.
Any support for this motion? I could put it forward to the CEO later today when I see him at the annual Christmas presents exchange at our local. Really, I'd be willing to do that for you guys, just give me the word.
I could do it on my own of course, but then R.E.S., the Chairman, President and CEO of RES (I'm told RES stands for Reliably Engineered Software - I've always thought of it as really excellent stock) will not recognize it for what it is and howl about harassment again.
It is simply this: over the last few years, a disproportionate share of their horrendous annual losses occurred in the last quarter. Must be the harsh Ottawa winters, or they just run out of steam, I don't know, but that is the fact - (I have done my DD on those financials they don't send out)- the last quarter, Jan.1 to March 31, is brutal.
So let's not have it. Might be good for all of us.
