...they are also stupid, illogical, dangerous, isolationist, conspiracy theorists who miss the stone age and pyramid construction using slave labour. They have bad points too, such as their DNA, their parentage, random mutations, viral contamination, similarity to hagfish behaviour with the aesthetics of leeches and tapeworms, ignorance, vindictive venality and sheer nastiness combined with tribal obsession.
For example, to accuse Bernie Schwartz of treachery by showing Chinese rocketeers how to solder for space, thus enhancing Chinese MAD developments ignores that every association, funding, technology transfer, trade, economic flow, personal contact and other integration activity is also destructive if soldering is destructive.
By asserting China is the enemy, one must then consider all developments which enhance any attribute of China to be helping the enemy. An American buying a cheap electronic device made in China to a Japanese design is funding China and its economic development. All economic or other trades enhance both China and the USA. It can't be avoided. The value slips from one thing to the other.
If China buys a USA cdmaOne handset, that handset will be used to enhance China's total value which means its economic and military power. If China isn't allowed to buy soldering techniques from Bernie, they will buy them from elsewhere or their own inventiveness. The USA then misses out on the sale of the soldering technique. Money is a very slippery thing. Money is power. By dealing with China at all they and the USA get power. If the USA won't deal with China, the USA misses out and China can probably get the product or service elsewhere.
Isolationism leads to being an ignorant island in a bustling world of development. Synchronicity and cloning is the name of the game.
