<Everyone knows; however, that Rome was not built in a day. >

Judging from the thickness of the Gibbons classic, the decline of Rome was even longer in the making.

What seems absent to me in the pro-Apple discussion is any candid evaluation of the marketplace. Why would a non-Apple user convert to Apple at this point?

Unless popular applications are developed which do not run on Wintel machines, the only thing keeping Apple alive, in my view, is the Justice Department Anti-trust division.

In five years, would you prefer to own Microsoft or Apple? Clearly, Microsoft is pretty confident about its future or it would not have issued the preferred stock recently.

Contrast that with the Apple Board of Directors and its management, which own virtually no shares in the company exept for those which they were given. They do not inspire confidence, even at these price levels.

You have to separate your love for the technology from your analysis of the stock.
