I don't know if this is particularly a great news since PSFT headed down to the 52-week low after it was added to S&P.

I suspect it was the 11 straight downgrades and flat earnings rather than the S&P. But this does illustrate that being on the list per se is not a sign of continued success. But it is good for a great bump, and for an internet stock the credibility of being on the S&P in itself is worth a bunch.
