Gene, I started this thread for a very specific reason -- to provide a trading viewpoint on LGND, trimmed of a decent amount of the in-depth scientific information.

So far, I think it's doing OK. A good example is Henry's post (2 back) summarizing LGND's science. Believe me (I read / skimmed most of the other thread) this ONE post is a much faster path to thumbnail understanding of LGND for non scientists.

LGND's current situation is that speculators bid up the price coming into their H&Q presentation, apparently anticipating an announcement regarding leptin. No announcement was made, stock backed off (like many others at H&Q - INSV, RZYM, GERN).

However, Mike Murphy and Jim McCamant (2 biotech newsletter writers) have both moved their buy-limits up to 16 as a result of the conference. Henry states that leptin deal is coming in a few weeks and I am a buyer at these levels. One idea to consider to is buy LGND now, sell after the leptin run-up, and use proceeds to buy ALRIZ. If LGND comes down, buy some more.
