Jim -
Come on, you are taking every piece of news that comes out and trying to see it as evidence of some plot on the part of CPQ management to fool the street and screw the shareholders. Increasing advertising? Sales must be down. Record sales? Just an accounting trick to hide the lack of cash. $4.5 Billion in the bank? More accounting trickery, they're about to go broke.

The problem is I can't sort out what is probably worthwhile to follow up on, and what is just you being cantankerous. I will say for the record that there is no way that CPQ will miss the earnings number. I'm sure you will claim that there's some accounting slight of hand that explains why they show .41 instead of .16 or whatever you were claiming. I thought the cash flow analysis was interesting but not convincing, it's too hard to guesstimate given how unusual '98 was for CPQ. That's one area I will watch going forward, but it's just one data point. I try and draw a general picture of corporate health and market potential on all of my investments, and right now the picture looks pretty good to me.
