Mark,
I thought I gave you the answer before, but I guess you did not understand. It's my fault! I was being indirect. I'll be more direct now!
If the KKK guy truly believed in Christ, he goes to heaven, no matter what his sin.
If Ghandi did not truly believe in Jesus, he did not go to heaven, no matter what his accomplishments.
Now I think that is straightforward enough.
Now realize, the likelihood of an active KKK member being saved would be very low, if it could exist at all.
So you are saying, how do I know? Well I'll tell you! If you are baptized by the Holy Spirit, which all true believers are when they come to faith, the Holy Spirit conviction against your KKK affiliation would surface and grow. This would happen because what the KKK does is wrong. It's against God's law. If it is against God, the Holy Spirit will tell you about it.
Now, one could ignore Holy Spirit conviction! All true believers do at one point or another. However, once you are repeatedly reminded by the Holy Spirit you are sinning, most Christians get the message. It may take awhile, but they'll get the message. And if they continue to ignore the Holy Spirit, their life is not going to be as good as God wants it to be, and as fruitful as it could be. And as rewarding as it could be. And that's a shame! And it will stop the person of enjoying God's full blessings in this life. The Holy Spirit dwelling inside you is truly a gift of God once you believe in Christ.
On the other side of the fence, why people reject the Lord is truly beyond me. The message is clear and it's there for the taking. So why Ghandi, or anyone for that matter rejects it is a mystery to me. But we all have the free will to choose.....
