The two companies will work on new cable software applications in a joint development company. Patti Reali, cable technology analyst for technology research and consulting firm Dataquest, says General Instrument "is looking out for its long-term health" by forming these alliances and preparing for the day when the set-top box will disappear into the television set.<< Just heard from 3Com's report that their PalmPilot is doing exceptionally well. This should bode well for SPYG since COMS uses their technology. Motorola will be unveiling their 'Black-bird' set-top box at the CE show next month. They will showcase for the first time SPYG's full-featured interactive Device Mosaic browser.
