I find it extremely hard to believe that Qualcomm has patented every aspect of a CDMA system, thereby forcing (perhaps a bad word choice, but it is 11:30) its competitors to either license or not produce a CDMA system.

I do agree that having the blocking patent(s) is/are extremely rare and you have given good reasoning as to why Qualcomm might have effectively blocked another entity from implementing a different form of CDMA.

I still, though, find it extremely hard to believe that Qualcomm has patented each and every aspect of a CDMA system and that no other company/entity can come up with a different implementation.
